best surf breaks (not ideal for beginners) with protected
beaches and headland national park and located in the
centre of the Gold Coast strip.
Broadbeach accommodation
Just a few kilometres to the south of Surfers
Paradise, Broadbeach is fast developing as an alternative
to staying in Surfers Paradise. New high quality
hotels, apartments and restaurants make this a very
attractive location. Excellent patrolled beaches
and the location for some of Australia's major surf
life saving carnivals. Being close to Pacific Fair
Shopping Centre and Conrad Jupiters Casino Broadbeach
is also a great location for non beach activities.
Broadwater accommodation
The Gold Coast Broadwater stretches north
from Southport past Labrador, Biggera Waters, Anglers
Paradise, Runaway Bay, Hollywell and Paradise Point.
The Broadwater is protected by The Spit (to the South)
and South Stradbroke Island (to the North). A waterfront
promenade is located along the Broadwater starting
at Biggera Waters in the North continuing to Southport
in the South. Attractive parkland and a number of
parks can also be found along the promenade ideal
for walking, cycling and relaxing. The Broadwater
is also a popular area for boating, due to its calm
waters. The Broadwater also offers safe access to
the Pacific Ocean. There are many great places to
stay in this area.
Coolangatta accommodation
The twin towns of Coolangata and Tweed Heads
mark the southern end of the Gold Coast. Coolangata
is more family orientated and relaxed than other
parts of the Gold Coast. North facing beaches Rainbow
Bay and Greenmount are popular with families and
you can walk between the two of them .Coolangatta
is home to some of the area's prettiest beaches. Located
at the mouth of the Tweed River, just a 30 minute
drive from Murwillumbah and Lamington National Parks.
Currumbin, Tugun and Bilinga are also situated at
the southern end of the Gold Coast.
Hinterland
region of the Gold Coast
including Tamborine Mountain
The Gold Coast Hinterland is a contrast
to the beaches, nightclubs, restaurants and theme
parks of the coastal strip. Just 30 minutes in from
the sea are the small townships and natural beauty
of the hinterland. Tamborine Mountain “the
green behind the gold” is west of Surfers Paradise
and was originally formed as lava flow from Mt Warning
about 22 million years ago. If you want a relaxed
country escape then the gold coast hinterland is
the place to stay.
Main
Beach accommodation
Main Beach, located on the eastern side
of the Nerang River estuary (The Broadwater) is bounded
to the north by The Spit and by a narrow isthmus
(Narrowneck) extending to Surfers Paradise in the
south. The name Main Beach is descriptive , since
it was the main surf beach for the town of Southport,
the earliest surveyed town in the immediate area.Main
Beach high-rise buildings are focused on Tedder Avenue
with a permanent residential neighbourhood, restaurants
and coffee shops.
Mermaid
Beach accommodation
Mermaid Beach is situated in the southern
end of the Gold Coast and is somewhat quieter than
Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. The beach's tranquil
surroundings with sheltered picnic areas ,bike tracks
and children's playground make this a perfect family
beach! Although still close enough to all the action
if you so desire.

in Queensland and a quieter part of the Gold Coast.
