Gold Coast Pubs

Australia ’s fastest growing city does not disappoint when it comes to the number of watering holes spread around the region. Over the past 20 years the Gold Coast has sprawled and tavern-style pubs have popped up in every new town centre. Most have a firmly established local clientele and regular patrons. TAB facilities, large television screens and decent meal options add to the popularity of the modern Gold Coast pub. Although some people claim they generally lack any real character or atmosphere, the pubs and taverns are good place to enjoy a cold beer and a friendly chat.

There are several notable pubs that ooze charm and ambience and are worth a look. The Prince Albert Bar at Jupiters Casino offers over one hundred types of beer, stand up comedy, hearty pub meals and live entertainment. Stop by for a brew or just to soak up the atmosphere, the Prince Albert has all the fun and frivolity of an old style English pub.

Another outstanding pub is O’Malleys  Irish Pub. Located above McDonalds in Cavil Avenue, O'Malley's   Irish   Pub overlooks one of the world's greatest beaches. That aside the traditional pub is a little taste of the old country with traditional Irish dishes, live music and great atmosphere.

Fisherman’s Wharf in Mariner's Cove also gets a mention here because of its fantastic location. Avoid it at all costs on a Sunday when the Gold Coast youth come in droves to get drunk. At all other times the pub is great day or evening out on the waterfront.

Last but not least is Surfers Paradise Beer Garden . ( Featuring no beer garden at all), this pub is well known for its live music and DJ’s. Inexpensive drinks, an unpretentious atmosphere and free entry make it a local favourite. Touring musicians such as Jack Johnson and even Michael Franti have performed in the ‘beer garden’.
